Gameplay

Devil Jin's fighting style is an updated version of Jin's Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament style, thus switching back to a Mishima-style gameplay and retaining many of their signature moves such as the Electric Wind God Fist and the Flash Punch Combo.

Unlike most Mishimas, Devil Jin is well rounded and varied: while Heihachi excels in pressuring the opponent and Kazuya in performing heavy damaging punishers, Devil Jin is good with both, making him a powerful force. This doesn't mean that anyone who picks Devil Jin is instantly good, at all: Devil Jin requires a certain amount of skill and practice because most of his good moves and launchers are easy to see and heavily punishable, so incorrectly punishing the opponent can leave the player open to huge damage. In order to use him effectively, one must wait for the opponent to make a mistake, or using his great pressure tools and force them to make a mistake.

His laser attacks and flight should not be used carelessly, lest he is left wide open to punishment, but he actually does have techniques that utilize his flight and powers that are quick enough to use out of hand. Also, while his transition to a flight stance is not safe on block, he is hard to punish properly.
Fighting Style

Devil Jin's fighting style utilizes the personally renounced and repressed mix of Mishima Style Fighting Karate and Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts used by Jin in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament. Over the course of the series, the animations of some moves were changed to be rough and crude in execution compared to Jin's Tekken 3 moveset to reflect Devil's demonic nature, along with some demonic abilities of his own. His aggressiveness makes him best inclined to be on the offensive, unlike Jin who is relatively more conservative and focused on self-defense.

In Tekken 7, he has also gained some moves that originated from Angel.

Trivia

General:

Based on the dialogue in the Scenario Campaign and his Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ending, Devil Jin seems to suffer headaches when Jun, Unknown, Asuka, Xiaoyu, or Hwoarang are in his sight.
Devil Jin's striking movesets are heavily based on Shito-ryu style of karate (Mishima Style Fighting Karate), while the grappling and throwing techniques are based on the unarmed combat of traditional Japanese martial arts such as Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu (大東流合気柔術) (Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts).
Devil Jin's skin color is not purple like Kazuya's in his devil form, but rather a paler tone of Jin Kazama's normal skin tone. He also has dark angel wings (black feathered wings) rather than devil wings, and otherwise retains most of his human characteristics.
Devil Jin possessing black-feathered wings could also be a reference to fallen/dark angels: angels that were cast out of Heaven by God after they have been taken over by or have committed a sin.
Harada confirmed that Devil Jin's feathers rather than devil wings are related to his Kazama heritage.[37]
Devil Jin seems to enjoy devouring human flesh, and can be seen expressing the desire to eat people numerous times throughout Tekken 6's Scenario Campaign.[38]
His and Jin's voice actor, Isshin Chiba, also provided the voice for Jedah Dohma from the Darkstalkers series. His evil laughter win-pose seems similar to Jedah's own evil laughter win-pose. The two characters also share the same style of laugh, a dark chuckle followed by a sudden loud, shrill cackle. Said win-pose was also one of many used for the create-a-soul in Soulcalibur III, albeit without the character laughing.
Devil Jin is in many ways similar to his Street Fighter series counterpart Evil Ryu: both are evil manifestations of each game series' main protagonist, both share similar personality traits in terms of being highly aggressive and violent, and both characters possess updated movesets of their former selves.

Tekken 3:

Devil Jin makes his first ever appearance in Jin Kazama's ending, after Heihachi shoots Jin.

Tekken Tag Tournament:

Devil Jin appears in the game but without wings and horns. He appears in Kazuya and Jun's endings.
During Omen stance, Jin adopts Heihachi Mishima's fighting stance. He also gains Devil Jin's third eye (on his forehead) and glowing red eyes.[39]
Jin loses health when performing various moves during Omen. It is widely believed that his inability to fully control the Devil Gene is the cause of this.

Tekken 4:

Devil Jin is seen in Jin Kazama's ending, first in a partially transformed state, and then in full as he flies off into the night.

Tekken 5 and Dark Resurrection:

Devil Jin is one of five new playable characters.
He can be considered a replacement for his counterpart, Devil, who has now merged with Kazuya and is no longer its own entity.
Devil Jin has an interlude with Asuka Kazama, and then a unique interlude with Jinpachi Mishima. Asuka and Sergei Dragunov have interludes with Devil Jin if they are the selected character.
Devil Jin appeared as sub-boss in this game.
He is the sub-boss for every character with the exception of himself, his human form, Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya Mishima, Asuka Kazama, Hwoarang, Raven, and Wang Jinrei.
In his ending, he can be seen wearing a chain belt around his waist and his right arm before he transforms. After he transforms, all chains are gone.
In Asuka's story mode, Devil Jin appears to be struggling to fight Jinpachi as he was knocked away with one blow. In her ending, however, he was seen unconscious as his horns and wings are gone, leaving him half transformed. He was healed by her "touch" removing the tattoos on his forehead and chest, and his normal-self awakens.
Devil Jin also appears in Dragunov's ending where he has been held captive inside the water tank by research scientists seeking to utilize his devil powers. What is often speculated to be the devil entity can be seen in another tank after its removal.
Devil Jin appears in Hwoarang's ending, where he causes Hwoarang's motorbike to crash. He slowly walks towards Hwoarang who struggles to get up, and then readies himself to fight.
Devil Jin canonically hospitalized Hwoarang during the course of this game. Hwoarang had previously beaten Jin in their tournament fight, before Devil Jin manifested and left him severely injured.[40]

Devil Within (Mode):

He appeared as a form change for Jin Kazama.
While in this form, Jin's health meter gradually increases.
When he uses Devil's Beam or his moves, his health meter decreases by 1%.
Completing this mode is one of two ways to unlock Devil Jin as a selectable character in the main game. The other way is playing 200 matches in the game.

Tekken 6 and Bloodline Rebellion:

His ending is connected to Zafina's ending.
Devil Jin is the final boss for Kazuya in story mode.
He can be customized to resemble Devil Kazuya.
Devil Jin can be customized to resemble an "Angel Jin" by buying "Angel Halo" and equipping it on his 2P model.
He can also be customized to resemble a semi-perfect True Ogre with beast head, beast leg, skeleton tail and beast wings.
Devil Jin's powers are absorbed by Azazel's orb in his ending, a direct opposite of the outcome of Hwoarang, Yoshimitsu, and Ganryu's endings, all of whom were transformed or nearly transformed by the orb's power.
In the Scenario Campaign, King, Craig Marduk, and Armor King II mistake Devil Jin for a wrestler wearing their full getup. This only confuses Devil Jin as to why they are not scared of him, to which Marduk responds that since his training partner is someone like "him" (King), he is not easily surprised.

Street Fighter X Tekken:

Devil Jin's presence in the story of Street Fighter X Tekken was hinted at in the January 2012 trailer. M. Bison drives Jin through a sky-view window with his signature Psycho Crusher trying to destroy him. However, he forms wings from the glass fragments, his eyes glow to an even brighter yellow, and he bares his teeth before stating "I'll teach you fear!".
He briefly appears as a semi-form change during Jin Kazama's execution of his Devil's Beam super art.
Ryu's swap costume is based on Devil Jin.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance:

Devil Jin has a brand new humanoid form in the non-canonical Tekken: Blood Vengeance and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 prologue: the initial form appears quite monstrous and hulk-like, bearing a slight resemblance to True Ogre, and his second/final form appears human-like, and slightly resembles Kazuya's new Devil form. Jin seems to be conscious whilst in this form. This form, however, is not considered canon.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2:

As Devil Jin and Jin are the same person, when paired together, they have a special tag switch transformation (b/u+5) rather than running in and out of the screen, and their special win animation also consists of Jin transforming into Devil Jin and vice versa. They can still perform tag throws, tag combos and normal tags, however.
Hwoarang and Devil Jin have a special win pose where Hwoarang will try to punch Devil Jin, missing as he flies away.
His skin tone is noticeably darker in this game compared to any previous games. Devil Jin is also noticeably pale as his human form has a much more tan complexion in comparison.
The English translation of his famous line "恐怖を教えてやろう" (kyōfu wo oshiete yarō) is changed into "Fear My Wrath" from "Fear The Wrath of God". But the literal translation is "I'll teach you fear".
This line may be a source of confusion for many fans. The line was intended to mean that he was referring to himself as a god and that he is comparing his own power to that of a god.
This voice line originates from Jin's Tekken 6 dialogue, making it the only demonized voice line that is not a grunt-based voice. However, this calmer version of Devil Jin's dialogue does not replace the original eerie version of his dialogue in Tekken 7, unlike Bob's "Speed & Weight!" dialogue.
Devil Jin's second intro pose (he raises his arm and says "I'll take all of you at once!") was based on his snarl win pose from Tekken 5 and Tekken 6.
Devil Jin has been shirtless in every Tekken game he appears in, but in this game he was given a Preset B outfit consisting of black jeans and a gray t-shirt (designed by a company called "Oilshock").
There is an error involving his Devil Armor customization item where the upper body part does not use its own gauntlets, instead, using Devil Jin's default gauntlets (which are not color-changeable in the console version). This was fixed when the item was re-introduced in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.
Devil Jin has an alternate costume as Ganondorf in the Wii U Edition of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Devil Jin's item move is a pair of ram horns which allows the player to force their opponent to tag out. Devil Jin creates a magic circle similar to Unknown's Mizuchi Claw, which will cause the opponent to float into the air if they step into the bounds of the circle before they disappear and their partner character tags in.
This game marks the first time Devil Jin has more than one intro animation and dialogue

Tekken 7 and Fated Retribution:

Hwoarang's ending mirrors Devil Jin's ending, except Hwoarang is the one to win their fight in this ending, and proceeds to throw a now human, weakened Jin to safety, saving him from a UN grenade.
In this ending Hwoarang also expresses a distaste for fighting Devil Jin, claiming a victory over him in his devil form doesn't mean anything to him.
As evidenced by how Hwoarang's ending ties into the main story where Lars rescues Jin, along with Hwoarang's new default outfit as of the Fated Retribution update, Hwoarang's version of this ending is the canonical version of this ending. This was confirmed in Hwoarang's Tekken 8 profile.
He is one of the few characters, along with his human form, to appear in the first time release arcade version.
The Critical Edge used by the Devil Jin custom fighting style from Soul Calibur V has been reused as his Rage Art. There is an addition to this sequence in Tekken 7 however, as Devil Jin finishes by using a beam attack on his grounded opponent.
His unique item move is a demon shield that glows brighter depending on how many consecutive attacks he has blocked.
The white wings now have to be purchased in this game, but he can still be given a halo.
The lighting engine in this game can sometimes make Devil Jin's wings look partly white, such as in his ending when he is firing a Devil Beam at UN soldiers.

Tekken 8:

A number of Jin Kazama's moves now draw on Devil Jin's moveset, and various other moves appear to be enhanced by Jin's Devil Gene, including the manifestation of a black wing, a move that utilizes Devil Jin's claws, and Jin's Rage Art where his facial devil markings appear.
Gameplay of Devil Jin was leaked on December 8, 2023, in which he was seen fighting Claudio Serafino.
Devil Jin has special intro animations with Claudio, Jin, and Jun, and unique win pose dialogue against Jin.
Claudio will exclaim "Perish, demon!", shooting an arrow of light at Devil Jin, who is hovering in the air above the stage. Devil Jin will deflect the arrow and laugh, brushing the attack off.
Devil Jin will outstretch his hand, demanding Jin surrender his body to him and surrounding Jin with a red aura. Jin will grunt in pain as the aura threatens to take control over him before exclaiming "oh no you don't!" and expelling the energy from around him.
Jun will focus her energy and put both hands out, surrounding Devil Jin with a golden aura and begging for Jin to not allow that power to consume him. Devil Jin will fight off the energy in a wave that Jun then shields herself from.
Devil Jin has unique Rage Art dialogue against Jin, Jun, Kazuya, and Heihachi.
Tekken 8 marks the first game where Devil Jin gains entirely unique battle grunts from Jin.
Devil Jin's gauntlets can be removed in the Customize screen, revealing more of the black markings around both of his elbows that were previously only partially visible.

Pokkén Tournament:

Charizard borrows some of Devil Jin's moves such as his Samsara (u+4) into flying stance. Its Flamethrower throw resembles Devil Jin's Obliteration command throw, and its tail slap resembles his One Two Knee (1,2,4).
One of Charizard's Burst moves as Mega Charizard X also bears a resemblance to Devil Jin's Hellfire Blast in his movie appearance in Tekken: Blood Vengeance.

Soulcalibur V:

While he himself does not make an appearance in-game, Devil Jin's fighting style is available in Soulcalibur V as an option in Character Creation mode. Users with this style will not only be able to use his laser attacks, but will also be able to sprout black, semi-transparent wings while using certain moves.
Katsuhiro Harada himself is also featured in the game as a ranked A3 opponent named Harada TEKKEN in Quick Battle, using Devil Jin's style and powers.
One of Devil Jin's costumes, including horns, pants, gloves, tattoo, chain belt, upper-arm chains, and his eyes, appears in a customization set. This allows for Devil Jin to be created both in appearance and with his own fighting style. Additionally, whenever a Devil Jin user is fought against, his theme, "Antares" will play. Recent DLC makes Jin's pants available for use for CAS.
In Tekken 7, Devil Jin uses his Critical Edge from Soulcalibur V as his Rage Art.
When "Devil Jin" fights his opponent, his hits emit a blue lightning when using his moves instead of a red lightning.
One of Devil Jin's combos can involve repeatedly canceling his d/f+1 into a dash before following into another d/f+1. This is a reference to how Jin had this in the original, Japanese arcade version of Tekken 3, which led to incredibly long and damaging combos and guaranteed damage thanks to the dash cancel.
Devil Jin's Preset 2 outfit in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution was likely a reused concept from the development of Soulcalibur V. The outfit can be seen as concept art for the character Z.W.E.I in the art book New Legends of Project Soul. [41]

Other:

Devil Jin is the final boss in Claudio Serafino and Ling Xiaoyu's storyline in Tekken Pachislot 4. In the game, Xiaoyu attempts to appeal to him and save Jin, and Claudio seeks to subdue his devil side.
In one version of the Pachislot 4 events, Xiaoyu is able to appeal to Devil Jin and he stays his hand from attacking her after a flashback of Xiaoyu smiling at him. This suggests that, despite being in devil form, he remembers her and is capable of some compassion.[42]
Devil Jin briefly appeared in Namco X Capcom but without wings and horns, like in the original Tekken Tag Tournament.
Devil Jin appears as a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate by obtaining Jin's spirit and leveling it up to 99.
Devil Jin appears as the "Devil Sculpture" Artifact in the game Tales of Arise. This artifact adds the Chaos difficulty.
Devil Jin, Nina Williams, and Yoshimitsu all appear as part of the series' collaboration with Brawlhalla, a free-to-play fighting game.[43]
Devil Jin is a playable character in the mobile game The King of Fighters: All Star.

Powers and Abilities

Devil Jin is a powerful demon with supernatural powers and an awesome fighter with great strength that is a force to be reckon with.

Devil Jin's fighting style is an updated version of Jin's Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament style, thus switching back to a Mishima-style gameplay and retaining many of their signature moves.

Fighting Style

Jin's fighting style in Tekken 3 mixes Mishima-style karate as well as Kazama-style traditional martial arts, before switching to traditional karate from Tekken 4 onwards. Devil Jin retains this old fighting style, along with some demonic abilities of his own.

“ You need power. Steep your very being into anger and hatred. Walk a path solely dedicated for vengeance... „
~ Devil Jin manipulating Jin.

“ When the Devil Gene takes over Jin Kazama... Jinpachi was able to escape captivity as Honmaru fell. This triggered the evil that had been building up inside Jin. Two months later... Evil has utterly consumed Jin's mind, and a deadly force has awakened... „
~ Prologue on Devil Jin in Tekken 5.

Devil Jin is extremely arrogant, aggressive and brooding. He seeks to achieve ultimate power, and will do whatever it takes to achieve it. He is also shown to be a very sadistic individual, as he has a habit of laughing at the suffering of his foes during his win animations. Like a typical demon he thinks of mortals, including Jin Kazama and his body, as weak. Although he still wants to protect Jin as seen in Tekken 8, as Jin dying will also lead to Devil Jin's demise or perhaps him fleeing to a weaker body instead, thus protecting Jin is necessary to ensure Devil Jin's own goals can be accomplished as well.

In Tekken: Blood Vengeance and Violet's ending in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Jin Kazama appears to be able to have complete control of his Devil form. His identity is in fact his own and not the demon, who despises Jin and does not know who Xiaoyu is (he only feels like he should know her). Jin's control of the Devil is non-canonical to the actual story, where Jin has absolutely no control over Devil. In the Devil Within minigame Jin has also no control over his constant transformations and are caused by the evil ruins of Ogre that awake the demon who wants to destroy everything (the player of course can choose when to use Devil Jin).

Unlike Devil Kazuya, Devil Jin does not seem to remember everything about Jin. In Devil Jin's Scenario Campaign mode, Eddy Gordo thinks Jin is sick and Nina Williams has to intervene, telling Devil that he will give the actual Jin back. Although Jin knows Kuma and banished him, Devil does not recognize the bear, nor does he recognize Hwoarang and Xiaoyu, although he does experience extreme pain when encountering these two, as if Jin's memories and bonds with them is what makes Devil Jin experience this pain. It is possible that whenever Devil Jin encounters someone Jin Kazama was associated with, Jin regains some of his control back, and this pain is Devil Jin trying to prevent Jin from obtaining more control over him. Devil Jin also seems to have knowledge about the Kazama Family and is surprised of the negative feeling caused by Asuka, insisting she keeps her distance due to him knowing of her ability to repel the Devil Gene that she inherited from the Kazama Clan. Instead, Devil knows well about Jinpachi, Heihachi, and Kazuya Mishima. He never mentions if he remembers that himself and Devil Kazuya used to be simply a single Devil and lived inside Kazuya's body.

During the same mode, Kazuya speaks to Devil Jin as the entity he used to fight twenty years ago and since Devil Jin used to be part of him he wants that power back. Being chaotic, Devil also protests against his own creator and former master Azazel and wants his power for himself. He shares the same love for fighting and creepy places with Bryan Fury.

Personality

When the Devil Gene completely takes over Jin's mind, he becomes a crazed, aggressive, destructive and brooding devil. It is also evident from his dialogue in the Scenario Campaign that he does not completely share the same memories as Jin but will still retain certain sensations from time-to-time. More accurately, Devil Jin can be treated more like the Devil Gene itself within Jin's body, with Devil Jin looking down on his host as someone weak-willed and insignificant.

Devil Jin seeks to acquire ultimate power, and will do whatever it takes to achieve it. He is also very confrontational and sadistic, as he has a habit of laughing at the suffering of his foes during his win animations. He refers to his opponents as "prey" and at numerous points in Tekken 6, he expresses a desire to eat his opponents. He relishes in the fear of those who encounter him, but this also leads him to have great disdain for non-organic beings and animals, seeing them as a bore. He does not seem to recognize Jin's friends or associates, though he does feel severe head pain when drawing close to people Jin is close to (Xiaoyu and Hwoarang) and when drawing close to Jin's relative, Asuka Kazama, who may have a devil-repelling power inherited from her family.[28] After Hwoarang saves him from United Nations forces in Tekken 7, Devil Jin exclusively focusses on attacking the UN and not Hwoarang, though this may just be because they are the most imminent threat. Devil Jin is shown in a similar dilemma with Xiaoyu in the (likely non-canon) Tekken Pachislot 4, where he remembers her and refrains from attacking her.

There have been instances where Jin seems more in control of his Devil Gene, such as when he was only partially transformed in his Tekken 4 ending, and at the end of Tekken 6 and Tekken 7. In these instances, Devil Jin seems more sane, and to retain more of Jin's own personality.

The only people that seem to be able to bring Jin back to his human senses are his mother, Jun Kazama, whose spirit or a vision of her calmed him in Tekken 4, or (non-canonically) his relative, Asuka Kazama (even though she is unaware of this power) as the Kazama family can somehow neutralize the devil gene.

Character Relationships

Jin Kazama - His human form. Devil Jin possesses Jin, causing him great anguish and pain. During the events of Tekken 8, Devil Jin reveals to Jin his intentions had always been to protect him, after forcing Jin to face his past failings. It is revealed that the Devil Gene's behavior depends on the user's desire, and Jin and Devil Jin eventually become one due to Jin letting go of his rage and hatred, changing his desire to protect those he cares for.
Devil Kazuya - His other half. They are two parts of a single, divided demonic entity.
Kazuya Mishima - His host's father and arch-enemy.
Heihachi Mishima - His human-counterpart's grandfather who tried to take control of the Devil Gene's power and later tried to destroy it. When Heihachi shot Jin, Devil Jin was first awakened. Devil Jin also holds a grudge against Heihachi and wishes to kill him.
Jun Kazama - His human-counterpart's mother. She warded off Devil's initial attempt to take Jin. She later appeared to him in Hon Maru, preventing him from killing Heihachi.
Hwoarang - Devil Jin defeated him during the tournament in Tekken 5. They fought again in Tekken 7, which led to Hwoarang defeating Devil Jin,[36] before saving him from the UN soldiers after they launched a grenade towards him. He features in Hwoarang's Tekken 5 - Tekken 7 endings.
Jinpachi Mishima - His human-counterpart's great-grandfather, Devil Jin tried to gain his power in Tekken 5.
Asuka Kazama - His human-counterpart's cousin. Non-canonically, she was able to subdue the Devil Gene (unknowingly) and revert him back to normal in Tekken 5.
Sergei Dragunov - Tried capturing him for his army in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection.
Lars Alexandersson - Rescued him from the desert when the UN were trying to recapture him.
Raven - After his human-counterpart destroyed Azazel’s physical body, Raven found Jin’s comatose body and took him into custody. A helicopter he was holding Jin in was blasted apart by Devil Jin, though Raven survives.
Azazel - Tried to gain his power in Tekken 6. However, the non-canon ending of sixth game showed that it backfired, but succeeded for his human-counterpart’s case.
Ling Xiaoyu - Appealed to him in one version of the non-canonical Tekken Pachislot 4 events, and he stays his hand from attacking her after a flashback of memories of Xiaoyu smiling at him.
Violet - Captured him along with Kazuya and Heihachi in the non-canonical Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Super Combot DX - Blasted its head off in the non-canonical Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Angel Jin - His purified form. After Jin morphed into his angelic form and clashed with Kazuya, Jin erased both his and his father’s devil genes.

Jinpachi: You won't escape.
Asuka: Well, I guess running won't do me any good. Let's go, you monster!

Dialogues in Devil Jin's Playthrough
Bryan Fury

At Southern Woodlands

Devil Jin: What pleasant surroundings.
Alisa Bosconovitch: We should find a mansion on the far side. I have detected numerous bio-readings within.
Devil Jin: To think there would be others that enjoy such scenery as I.

(Vs Bryan Fury)

Devil Jin: You're not human, are you? That explains why you enjoy this environment.
Bryan Fury: Look who's talking. Seems like you've had your own transformations. I'm going to enjoy this!
Devil Jin: Very well. Allow me to teach you the meaning of true fear.

Miguel Caballero Rojo

At South Bay Warehouse Area

Devil Jin: I smell prey.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Bio-readings detected in a warehouse ahead.
Devil Jin: They'll soon know hiding is futile.

(Vs Miguel)

Devil Jin: Unsatisfying.
Miguel: Dammit! What's this diablo doing here?!
Devil Jin: Yes, that's a good expression. Fall deeper within your fears!

Jack-6

At Container Terminal 3

Devil Jin: What is this ship.
Alisa Bosconovitch: A large tanker like this is required to anchor offshore for safety reasons. It does not belong in the harbor.
Devil Jin: I don't smell any prey.
Alisa Bosconovitch: I have confirmed numerous readings within, but they appear not to be human. Be careful.

(Vs Jack-6)

Devil Jin: This one seems different from the others.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes. Its equipment surpasses that of the others you fought.
Devil Jin: I derive no pleasure from destroying mere machines.

Emilie De Rochefort

At Queen's Harbor

Devil Jin: That ship's next.
Alisa Bosconovitch: My research finds that such tankers are not permitted in close proximity to piers.
Devil Jin: Inconsequential. All I want to known is if prey lies within.

(Vs Lili)

Lili: What is with you? Do you think it's cool dressing up like a devil?
Devil Jin: This unappetizing little brat is my final quarry?
Lili: What did you call me? Ooh, that does it. I'll rip off your horns and toss you into the sea!

Sergei Dragunov

At Container Terminal 7

Devil Jin: So, this is where soldiers were spotted.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes. A large number of personnel seem to have already come ashore.
Devil Jin: We'll see how entertaining they can be.

(Vs Sergei Dragunov)

Devil Jin: I was looking forward to tearing up some real troops. This has been a disappointment.
Sergei Dragunov: I've been looking for you.
Devil Jin: Are you the last? Hopefully, you can provide me with some entertainment.
Sergei Dragunov: You will not escape.

Wang Jinrei

At Fujian Tulou

Devil Jin: Strange Building.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Numerous bio-readings detected. We should anticipate trouble if we mean to search inside.
Devil Jin: The top seems empty. No matter. It's time to have some fun.

(Vs Wang Jinrei)

Devil Jin: Playtime's over already?
Wang: You're the devil, the power that killed Jinpachi!
Devil Jin: That insignificant flea? He was a pathetic old man who couldn't control his powers.
Wang: How dare you? I will avenge Jinpachi's death here and now!

Paul Phoenix

At West District, 13th Avenue

Devil Jin: All this ruination suits my senses.
Alisa Bosconovitch: I have detected bio-readings within that multi-tenant building.
Devil Jin: This should be interesting.

(Vs Paul Phoenix)

Devil Jin: What? Had enough?
Paul Phoenix: Damn! You're tough, but if I'm gonna be the greatest fighter in the universe, I've gotta beat guys like you.
Devil Jin: That's right, show me what you've got! Give it your all, so you can die a broken and disappointed fool.

Marshall Law

At West District

Devil Jin: Yes, I can see humankind's darkest ambitions swirling all around me.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Multiple readings detected. We are overwhelmingly outnumbered. Proposed course of action?
Devil Jin: We have nothing to fear. This is where it starts getting good.

(Vs Marshall Law)

Marshall Law: All those guys weren't enough. This doesn't look good.
Devil Jin: Ha, are you planning on running now?
Marshall Law: Dammit! No one told me I'd have to end up fighting a monster!

Steve Fox

At Abyss Gate

Devil Jin: Shadow Coliseum?
Alisa Bosconovitch: According to rumors, it is definitely in this area.
Devil Jin: Just so long as I get in a good fight.

(Vs Steve Fox)

Bystander: Whoa! What the hell?!
Bystander: They broke in through the ceiling!
Devil Jin: This must be it. Ah, the air is filled with chaos. It's enough to drive a person mad.
Steve Fox: I don't know who you are, but no one interrupts my match!

Yoshimitsu

At Kigan Island

Devil Jin: This presence, it's coming from deeper within.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Current temperature: 12 degrees Celsius. Approximately 10 degrees Celsius underground.
Devil Jin: It will be interesting to see what's emanating such evil energy.

(Vs Yoshimitsu)

Devil Jin: Ah, this evil energy is pleasing to the senses.
Yoshimitsu: You demon! You must have been drawn here by this evil sword!
Devil Jin: That sword shall be mine.
Yoshimitsu: Fool. You shall die by my blade.

King and Craig Marduk

At Mixed Martial Arts Gym "Wild Kingdom"

Alisa Bosconovitch: We are within vicinity of the target.
Devil Jin: Are they human?
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes, they are.
Devil Jin: One of them had the appearance of a beast.

(Vs King and Craig Marduk)

Craig Marduk: Nice look, but we're not accepting new members at the moment.
Devil Jin: You don't look surprised to see me.
Craig Marduk: Well. my sparring partner is him, so it takes a lot more to surprise someone like me.
King: What's going on? Are you new here?
Devil Jin: What is with these two?

Armor King

At Lost Cemetery

Alisa Bosconovitch: Armor King assisted in the escape of G Corporation test subjects. He is seeking refuge up ahead.
Devil Jin: An ally of our previous encounter.
Alisa Bosconovitch: I have no data on their relationship.

(Vs Armor King)

Devil Jin: So, you're Armor King?
Armor King: What are you doing here? You a new wrestler?
Devil Jin: Hah, not only do you look like the one who calls himself King, but you answer just like him, too.

Ling Xiaoyu

At Mishima Polytechnic

Alisa Bosconovitch: We are near the alma mater of Jin Kazama, current head of Mishima Zaibatsu.
Devil Jin: Why does it feel familiar.

(Vs Ling Xiaoyu)

Ling Xiaoyu: Jin? Is that you?
Devil Jin: Who are- Argh, what is this?
Ling Xiaoyu: It's me, Jin! Xiaoyu!
Devil Jin: Stay back! If you get any closer. I'll kill you!

Baek Doo San

At West Coast Canal Industrial Complex

Devil Jin: Is this really where we should be looking?
Alisa Bosconovitch: My sensors are picking up multiple bio-readings. It is definitely here.
Devil Jin: Looks like we got some real live ones here.

(Vs Baek Doo San)

Baek Doo San: Damn it, what is with this monster?!
Devil Jin: Monster? I like the sound of that, and I relish the fear in your eyes as you say it.
Baek Doo San: I won't let an abomination like you ruin all my plans!

Hwoarang

At Industrial Highway 357

Devil Jin: Where's their leader?
Alisa Bosconovitch: Cannot verify identity.
Devil Jin: Then we'll eliminate them, one by one.

Devil Jin: You're-Ugh, what is this horrible sensation?!
Hwoarang: What? What's happening?
Devil Jin: You miserable humans!

Leo Kliesen

At 16th Archaeological Expedition's Excavation Site

Alisa Bosconovitch: Warning! This cavern may collapse at any moment.
Devil Jin: The prey is inside. We go in.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Understood. Please tread carefully.

(Vs Leo)

Leo Kliesen: What did you idiots just do?!
Devil Jin: Oh? Looks like I've stumbled across some decent competition.
Leo Kliesen: That fall could've killed me! You've got a lot of nerve.

Mokujin

At Subterranean Pavilion

Devil Jin: This passage wasn't here until now.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes, it seems to continue deeper. Shall we proceed onward?
Devil Jin: Naturally. Though I sense something unpleasant.

(Vs Mokujin)

Devil Jin: I knew I sensed something unpleasant.
Mokujin: (None may defile this sacred ground. Begone!)
Alisa Bosconovitch: No power source detected. What manner of anomaly is this?
Devil Jin: This is most irritating. Out of my sight!

Kuma

At North Nature Park

Devil Jin: A bear? Hunting down animals does not interest me.
Alisa Bosconovitch: This bear possesses an intellect on par with a human, and can understand speech.
Devil Jin: So bears are evolving, too.

(Vs Kuma)

Devil Jin: So you're the target bear.
Kuma: (That's right. Who are you?)
Devil Jin: So you do understand. Let's see if you know my favorite word: terror! Gwah hah hah!
Kuma: (You're not right in the head.)

Ganryu

At Aranami Stable

Devil Jin: The owner of a chanko restaurant?
Alisa Bosconovich: Correction: he is a formidable threat who was discharged from the sumo world. We must proceed with caution.
Devil Jin: Anyone will do as long as they provide some entertainment.

(Vs Ganryu)

Ganryu: You made it all this way.
Devil Jin: A pitiful fool who only knows how to run. You're not worth my time.
Ganryu: Quiet! In the entire history of sumo, only sixty-nine masters have risen to the rank of yokozuna. I will now demonstrate what it takes to get there!

Raven

At Secret Underground Passage

Devil Jin: What is this place?
Alisa Bosconovitch: Warning: Hidden surveillance systems are in position throughout the vicinity.
Devi Jin: I can feel the eyes upon us.

(Vs Raven)

Devil Jin: So you're the one who's been dogging my every step.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Warning: The target utilizes optical camouflage technology. Proceed with caution.

Heihachi Mishima

At Mishima Estate

Devil Jin: Oh, I'm sensing some real power here.

Devil Jin: This should be interesting.

(Vs Heihachi Mishima)

Devil Jin: You. Where do I know you from?
Heihachi Mishima: What luck! My prey has fallen right into my lap.
Devil Jin: I think you're confused as to who is truly prey. Let me teach you the true meaning of fear.

Robert Richards

At Central District, 11th Avenue

Devil Jin: Dark desires swirl madly throughout this place. Fantastic.
Alisa Bosconovich: A prime example how wars can dramatically increase crime rates.
Devil Jin: I should fine some prime prey here.

(Vs Bob)

Bob: Stop right there! Where do you think you're taking that girl?
Devil Jin: Interesting. I'm surprised to see a soul not yet tainted in darkness.
Bob: Hang on, miss, I'll save you!
Alisa Bosconovitch: Uh ...

Christie Monteiro

At Seahorse Grand Hotel

Devil Jin: A well-ordered city, at least on the surface.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Pastural lands have been replaced by this city several years ago as part of a program to revitalize tourism.
Devil Jin: In reality, every inch of it was made out of greed, lust and arrogance. Though different from the previous area, this place is still hideously, beautifully, deformed.

(Vs Christie Monteiro)

Christie Monteiro: Hey, you know where Eddy is, don't you? Take me to him now!
Devil Jin: Eddy? Who is that?
Christie Monteiro: Don't play dumb with me, you Mishima devil!
Devil Jin: This one has a lot of energy in her.

Lei Wulong

At ICPO Branch Office

Devil Jin: International police?
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes, the reason is unknown, but a full assault by G Corporation soldiers will momentarily converge upon the premise.
Devil Jin: Sounds like we'll be seeing a fair amount of death.

(Vs Lei Wulong)

Devil Jin: Now this is some tasty prey.
Alisa Bosconovitch: The target is to be protected, not to be eaten.
Devil Jin: Tch, and he's right within my sight.
Lei Wulong: Who are you guys? Are you with the G Corporation?
Alisa Bosconovitch: No. We are here to help you. Please come with us quickly!

Roger Jr.

At Mishima Industries, Biotech Research Station Ruins

Devil Jin: This had better be the right place.
Alisa Bosconovitch: It is. Up ahead, there should be a site where the Mishima Zaibatsu conducted experiments on biological weaponry.
Devil Jin: I don't care. Let's move.

(Vs Roger Jr.)

Devil Jin: There's nothing here but animals. Is there anything intelligent here at all?
Alisa Bosconovitch: Target acquired.
Devil Jin: Yes. Indeed, that's no ordinary beast.
Roger Jr.'s Mother: (What do you blokes want? Would it kill you to knock?)

Asuka Kazama

At Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts Dojo

Devil Jin: "Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts?"
Alisa Bosconovitch: One of Jin Kazama's blood relations opened this dojo. It may be worth our while to investigate.
Devil Jin: What is this dreadful unease I feel from within?

(Vs Asuka Kazama)

Asuka Kazama: Hey! I saw you before. Are you trying to crash this dojo?!
Devil Jin: Gwaaargh! Stay Back!
Asuka Kazama: Hey! Who the hell do you think you are, treating me like some kind of virus?!
Devil Jin: I said, stay back! Disappear from my sight!

Feng Wei

At Deserted Temple

Devil Jin: An abandoned temple. That must be it.
Alisa Bosconovitch: The condition of the gate implies people have been through here recently.
Devil Jin: This time I'll have a little fun.

(Vs Feng Wei)

Feng Wei: You don't seem human. However, human or not, no one shall interfere with my training!
Devil Jin: You'll make a delicious feast! Now, how best to prepare such a dish?
Feng Wei: Enough nonsense!

Lee Chaolan

At Violet Systems

Devil Jin: So our destination is just ahead.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes. Violet Systems is a world-famous manufacturer of humanoids.
Devil Jin: I sense hardly any humans at all.

(Vs Lee Chaolan)

Lee Chaolan: Well, you certainly know how to make and entrance and a most bizarre first impression. Is that really Jin Kazama under all that?
Devil Jin: Definitely not. The man you speak of was nothing but an insignificant and miserable entity that dissipated within me.
Lee Chaolan: Something is swirling about you. Or maybe this is the true Jin Kazama.
Devil Jin: Not far off, but you'll die never knowing the truth, detective.

Julia Chang and G Corp Security

At G Science and Technology, Research Building 3

Devil Jin: Deeper within?
Alisa Bosconovitch: G Corporation research facility confirmed ahead. No further information ac-
Devil Jin: Knowing it's there is enough for me.

(Vs G Corp Security)

Devil Jin: That is my prey.
G Corp Security: Who are you, pal, a new test subject?
Devil Jin: She's mine to devour, not yours!

Eddy Gordo

At Tekken Force 4th Special Forces Operation Group Compound

Devil Jin: How they hustle and bustle.
Alisa Bosconovitch: The Tekken Force's Fourth Special Ops Units is stationed here.

Eddy Gordo: You've lost your mind.

Bruce Irvin

At G Security Service, Operations Headquarters

Devil Jin: I sense many people worth killing here.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes, this is one of the G Corporation's security sectors.
Devil Jin: Hell on Earth will soon become a reality!

(Vs Bruce Irvin)

Devil Jin: Are you the last one? My hunger has not been sated.
Bruce Irvin: Annihilation? That's how it ends? No, I must be dreamin' this.
Devil Jin: I'll fill your mind with enough terror to last an eternity!

Anna Williams

At G Corporation, Millennium Tower

Devil Jin: We've almost reached the tower.
Alisa Bosconovitch: My data indicates that this area is in an increased state of alert. Proceed with caution.
Devil Jin: A futile measure.

(Vs Anna Williams)

Devil Jin: Is it fear that twists your face so? Or do you look like that all the time?
Anna Williams: How dare you?! Somebody needs to shut your mouth for good.
Devil Jin: For such big words, you have no power in your voice.

Kazuya Mishima and Anna Williams

At G Corporation, Millennium Tower Heliport
(Vs Anna Williams)

Devil Jin: You again? I thought I had left you as a useless mass.
Anna Williams: Shut your mouth! Nobody's beating me before I beat her!
Devil Jin: Very well. I'll mangle your body to the point you'll never be able to stand again.

(Vs Kazuya Mishima)

Devil Jin: I've been looking for you.
Kazuya Mishima: Look at you. So you've given yourself over entirely to the power of the devil. You weren't half the man I thought you were, Jin Kazama.
Devil Jin: I'm surprised you've been able to resist it so long.
Kazuya Mishima: Of course, who do you think I am? This time I'll defeat you and take all the power for myself!
Devil Jin: Ridiculous. You're still a whimpering little human. You have no hope against me!

Nina Williams

At Mishima Zaibatsu, Central Subway Line

Devil Jin: Mishima's Headquarters must be up ahead.
Alisa Bosconovitch: Yes. The underground railway network directly connects to the Mishima Central Tower.
Devil Jin: They expect this to be some kind of trap?

(Vs Nina Williams)

Devil Jin: Now, this looks like a worth quarry.
Nina Williams: I'll have you return Jin Kazama.
Devil Jin: Do you really believe that he has a chance of returning?

Zafina and Tekken Force

At Mystic's Village

Devil Jin: A complete sea of flames.
Raven: Magma's starting to erupt throughout the vicinity. But how? It's geologically impossible.
Devil Jin: This phenomenon is nothing to be surprised about.

(Vs Tekken Force)

Devil Jin: You will return that girl back to me.
Tekken Force soldier: Monster! Kill it!
Devil Jin: Weaklings. Flee or die!

Azazel and Kazuya Mishima

At Azazel's Temple, Central Corridor

Devil Jin: So the seal's been broken.
Raven: There's no mistake. However, when we investigated before, these ruins weren't on the map.
Devil Jin: The barrier had to be strong enough to imprison him. Some spatial distortion is to be expected.

(Vs Kazuya)

Devil Jin: Have you returned for more?
Kazuya: I won't let you have such enormous power!
Devil Jin: You don't understand what this power is. Begone.

At Azazel's Temple, Oracle's Chamber

Devil Jin: This surrounding air feels heavy.
Raven:I don't like this. Be ready. Anything could from here on out.
Devil Jin: Petty humans are not worthy to step beyond this point.

(Vs Azazel)

Devil Jin: Could this be it?
Azazel: Indeed. I am Azazel, Rectifier of All Things. You, my shadow, have done well.
Devil Jin: It's a shame you feel that way, because I'm about to end your existence.
Azazel: Fool! You are no more than a puppet. How dare you turn against your very creator?
Devil Jin: You words mean nothing. Yes, the source of our power is the same, but I am your puppet no longer. I will defeat you and gain absolute power over the world! Come, Azazel, tumble into the abyss!

Trivia

Devil Jin is the boss fight at the Nightmare Train stage. He does not speak at this stage however, and instead ambushes the player and Alisa.
Devil Jin experiences pain when he is close to Jin's friends and to other Kazamas. As can be seen in his voice lines with Ling Xiaoyu, Hwoarang, and Asuka Kazama.
The phrase "Allow me to teach you the meaning of true fear!" is a reference to Devil Jin's intro quote "恐怖を教えてやろう! (kyōfu wo oshiete yarō?)" which has been one of his standard intro quotes since he was first introduced in Tekken 5. The original English translation used for this in Tekken 5 and Tekken 6 is "Fear the wrath of God!", but the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 translation is much closer to the original meaning: "I will teach you fear!".[1]

“ I'll take you all on at once! „
~ Devil Jin
“ I'll teach you the meaning of fear! „
~ Devil Jin

“ Jin: Mother! [Devil Jin laughs sinisterly.]
Devil Jin: You couldn't protect your own mother. All because you are powerless. Those without power lose everything. Just how many precious things have slipped through your fingers up until now?
Jin: You're from back then?
Devil Jin: You need power... Steep your very being in anger and hatred... Walk a path dedicated solely to vengeance. That vessel... Surrender it to me. „
~ Devil Jin manipulating his human self in Tekken 8.
“ Devil Jin: Your arrogance engulfed the world in war, ravaged it. Everywhere you go, anger and hatred follow. How are you any different from Kazuya Mishima? You must live with your sins. You will only find atonement through solitude.
Jin: The awareness of my sins and my duty gave me the will to move forward. And yet... Atonement won't come from fighting on my own. „
~ Devil Jin making Jin recall his past events of the sixth tournament in Tekken 8.
“ Devil Jin: It looks like you've faced yourself, and overcome your past.
Jin: Yeah. We've been at the mercy of our anger, and our hatred.
Devil Jin: Precisely, shouldering that sin and duty have made us strong.
Jin: All of this has led me to become the man I am today.
Devil Jin: And to your future self.
Jin: I've come here to accept it all and take ownership of my past. And when I leave here, it'll be to welcome a better tomorrow. I won't reject you—reject myself any longer. I need you to break them... these chains that bind me.
Devil Jin: Yeah. „
~ Jin begging his devil self to break the chains of his past in Tekken 8.
“ Devil Jin: The chains that bound you are no more. What is it you truly desire?
Jin: My desire... I want to protect those important to me, even if it costs me my life. Toward that end, I need your strength. Come, Devil, let's fight together once more.
Devil Jin: Yes, of course. Never shall I deny you. If that is your wish, then I accept it wholeheartedly.
Jin: You've always been protecting me, haven't you? You have my thanks, and my apologies. This time, I'll be the one to protect them all. „
~ Jin resolving that he must protect those precious to him, thanking and apologizing to his devil self in Tekken 8.

Personality

Devil is a power-hungry, unforgiving entity who is motivated by power above all else, and enjoys causing pain to other people, suggesting a sadistic nature as well. He displays no remorse for the damage that he causes to others in his quest for absolute power and control over the world. He is also extremely arrogant, as he believes that his power is unmatchable. Like the loud Devil Jin, he loves destruction, yet he is more calculating, subtle, and colder. He appears to be very cunning and is ruthless in battle. He also very manipulative, such as attempting to lure others who are cursed by an evil entity like Jin to succumb to its power through merciless fear and pain, in attempt to gain theirs as his own. Unlike Devil Jin's dislike for Jin Kazama, Devil actually likes Kazuya, since the latter gave up to hatred and malice. His most hated enemies have been Heihachi, Angel, Jun Kazama, and Jin. Devil's current main goal is to take back his half from Jin and restore his full power.

In Kazuya's story in Tekken 2, Kazuya can actually fight against Devil in the final boss battle, instead of Heihachi, Jun, or Angel. The part of the story is not part of the canon, yet fans believe that this alternate event might happen inside Kazuya's mind because Devil still has Kazuya's physical traits after leaving his body. However, Heihachi's presence in the ending would not be explained.

Although in the last 3 canonical games Kazuya and Devil get along together and Kazuya claims to control himself, some scenes and moments raised doubts from the fans about whoever between the two is really in control of the body and if Devil is actually Kazuya's real master, with Kazuya not being able to realize how evil he has become. For example, Kazuya is remembering happy childhood memories with his grandfather Jinpachi Mishima, who he respected and loved, but since his devil cells are merged with his own, his happy mood suddenly changes into a sadistic evil one. It is believed that despite G Corporation's experiments, Devil's cells might be always the superior ones over the human cells.

⛓️ Appearance

devilwithjin: (Default)
APPEARANCE

Devil Jin represents Jin Kazama after the Devil Gene, an inherent gene of the Hachijo-tainted Mishima bloodline, takes over him. Devil Jin's appearance remains close to his human form, but with added demonic traits, such as forward pointing horns, tattoos, bones protruding from his forearm and he is paler.

Appearance

Jin is a Japanese male with black hair that is spiked upwards, in a style similar to the hairstyle of his father, but with the bangs of his mother. In fact, in the early screen showings of Tekken 3, many fans assumed that the yet unnamed Jin Kazama is Kazuya in his early teen years, due to their similarities. Jin is also very muscular and toned, as evidenced by his large biceps, visible abs, and pectoral muscles.

Jin has a black mark on one of his arms, which Devil has branded onto him.

Jin has worn many outfits in the course of the Tekken series. Many of these outfits feature flames on them, and with the exception of a single outfit in Tekken 6, he always wears either gloves or gauntlets.

Appearance

Jin Kazama is a muscular young man of Japanese ethnicity. He has black hair that spikes at the back of his head, similar to that of his father, Kazuya Mishima. He also sports a fringe like his mother, Jun Kazama. Jin's face also strongly resembles his mother's. One of Jin's most prominent aspects is the black tattoo-like mark on his left shoulder, a mark that Devil branded onto him.

Devil Jin looks largely identical to his human form with additional demonic traits such as horns, tattoos, and demonic hands with spiked gauntlets. Devil Jin's eye color differs from Jin's, however, and has changed in color throughout his depictions:

Initially in his Tekken 3 debut, where he made a cameo, the color of his eyes are red as Jin's Devil Gene activates. This also applies in Devil Within and Tekken: Bloodline. Devil Jin has red eyes once again in Tekken 8.
In his character select render, his eyes are light golden similar to Unknown's.
Commonly, in both in-game and endings, his eyes are light silver.

Tekken 3

Devil Jin appears in Jin's Tekken 3 ending where he bears tattoos on his forehead, a third eye at the center of his forehead appearing similar to a red gem, and a longer, wilder fringe. He sprouts black wings on his back, and his outfit is unchanged from Jin's primary outfit in Tekken 3. In Heihachi's ending, the red gem on Devil Jin's forehead is not seen when Jin inhibits his devil transformation while unconscious.

Tekken 4

During both Kazuya and Jin's ending, Devil Jin has black tattoos on his chest and both of his arms, the large black tattoos over his forearms not returning in any of Devil Jin's later appearances. His outfit is still Jin's primary outfit in Tekken 4, but without the top of his karate gi: karate gi bottoms with one white pant leg on his left and a black pant leg on his right that has white flames at the hem outlined in gold, a black and white belt tied at the front, white and red footguards, and red and white gauntlets with the Kazama symbol on the backs.

Tekken 5/Dark Resurrection

Devil Jin makes a playable debut in Tekken 5. In both the console opening and his ending, he is shown to have sharpened fangs. He retains his appearance from his human form but with more demonic traits, such as extremely pale skin, light silver eyes (light yellow in character select render), black tattoos on his chest and forehead, horns, rough hairstyle and an eye on his forehead capable of shooting lasers like Devil's.

Player 1 outfit:
Devil Jin's Player 1 outfit is a modified version of the Player 1 outfit his human form is most regularly depicted in. Rather than karate gi pants, Devil Jin wears a pair of black leather pants with a red flame up to the mid-thigh section with a brown belt and a pair of mix-matched boots, the left being red with silver studs around the sole while the right is black, matching his pant legs. Devil Jin also has a broken chain hanging from his right arm.

He also wears demonic red gauntlets with metallic studs arranged in triangle pattern, (which resemble Jin's Mishima style gauntlets from Tekken 3) although heavily modified due to the transformation, the arm cover underneath is turned into metal with spikes that replace the gloves laces. He also has single spikes protruding from his forearms. The fingers on his gloves have a metallic skeletal like appearance.

In his CGI cutscenes and his ending, aside from his right arm, Devil Jin has also broken chains on his waist and left leg. But on his in-game appearance, only the chain on his right arm appears, and the other two are to be unlocked and equipped separately in the customization menu.

Player 2 outfit:
Devil Jin's Player 2 outfit is a palette swap of his Player 1 outfit, matching Jin's Player 1 outfit in Tekken 5. His pant leg, left boot, gauntlets, as well as his wings are now white. The silver studs on the backs of his gauntlets are replaced with the Kazama Clan symbol, similar to the gauntlets in Jin's Player 1 outfit, but the symbol is darker and appears corrupted.

In Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, the color of his P1 pants are dark teal instead of black, and the P2 color of the flame designs and his gauntlets are blue.

Tekken 6/Bloodline Rebellion

Player 1 outfit:
His default outfit gains the chains on both his waist, right arm, and left leg instead of being a customized outfit like the one seen in his Tekken 5 render. His gauntlets, however, gain two spikes on each side which resembles the same gauntlets that his human form wore which is the red-spiked detachable gauntlets. His gauntlets are are also bulkier than the previous ones and the flame designs on his pants are redrawn.

Player 2 outfit:
Devil Jin's Player 2 outfit is a palette swap of his Player 1 outfit, changing his gauntlets, the flames on his right pant leg, his right boot, and his wings to white, while re-adding the flame on his left pant thigh. Just like in Tekken 5, his gauntlets gains the Kazama symbol on the backs of the hands instead of the silver studs.

His customizations consist of priest coats, trousers, demonic armor gear, and Devil Kazuya's body parts along with its beast parts.

Tekken 7/Fated Retribution

Player 1 outfit:
In Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, Devil Jin wears a new main outfit.

He wears a light gray and white high-neck straitjacket with the sleeves ripped out. He also wears white leather pants with white buckles hanging loose on each side and red designs. Finally he wears a gray belt along on his waist. He maintains his mix matched red and black boots and his red demonic gauntlets from his previous primary outfit. He also gains a long chain on his neck which is hanging loose on his jacket.

This is the outfit worn by his human form during the Story Mode while he is trying to escape from the United Nations. However, in Hwoarang's character ending where Devil Jin reverts back into Jin, his demonic gauntlets, wings, and horns disappear in a purple haze and he is seen barehanded.

Player 2 outfit:
Devil Jin's Player 2 outfit is a palette swap of his primary outfit, replacing the white straps of the torn straitjacket with red, the dark gray interior of the jacket with black, and the black straps and black collar with brown. His right boot is now white instead of red, and his gauntlets are now a light copper color rather than red while the studs on the backs of his hands are black.

Default 3 outfit:
(See Tekken 6 Player 1 outfit)

Devil Jin's Default 3 outfit was used as his primary outfit before the home release of Tekken 7. This is the outfit he appeared in for his character reveal trailer.

Default 4 outfit:
(See Tekken 6 Player 2 outfit)

Aside from his four default outfits, Devil Jin has 7 preset outfits that can be chosen or made via the customization screen, and a gold metallic outfit that is unlocked only by purchasing Tekken 7's Season Pass 1 DLC.

Preset 1: (See Tekken 6 "Demonic Armor" outfit}

Preset 2: Devil Jin's Preset 2 outfit consists of a large, white, feather shawl with silver tails in the shape of wings. This shawl is held on by silver chains wrapping around Devil Jin's arms before hanging loosely around his chest. The front of the shawl's chains have two metallic pendants, the left pendant in the shape of a demonic bat and the right pendant in the shape of a wing. He wears a large, red, leather belt with a silver buckle in the shape of a demon's head with a bat wing on either side. Attached to the belt are chains which wrap around Devil Jin's waist and hang to the ground. Devil Jin also wears silver leather pants with flared bottoms that are split at the front. This split is lined with white feathers matching those seen on his shawl. Around his left leg is a black leather belt with a silver buckle. His boots are red with white shins and two straps along the top that are set with silver buckles, and have a black sole.

Preset 3: Devil Jin's Preset 3 outfit is a casual outfit consisting of a red, short-sleeved graphic tee with a symmetrical jagged, black design across the chest in the shape of a bat. Devil Jin has similar designs on his right pant leg and as a tattoo on his left arm. Devil Jin also wears a pair of blue-gray jeans with a dark gray belt and silver buckle with a demonic design imprinted on the front. With this outfit, Devil Jin wears a pair of black, derby-styled shoes.

Preset 4: Devil Jin's Preset 4 outfit is another casual outfit that consists of a plain black short-sleeved shirt, black jeans, and calf-length black boots that are belted around the ankles with a silver buckle at the exterior of each. He also wears a black, studded belt with a silver buckle. This outfit is accessorized with a silver necklace with a skull pendant, and two wallet chains at Devil Jin's right side. The larger of the two wallet chains has two skull charms at each end connected to the fastener. Devil Jin has a large black tattoo on his right arm in this outfit.

Preset 5: Devil Jin's Preset 5 is a re-texture of his primary outfit. The entirety of his straitjacket as well as the collar around his neck is replaced with a silver, alligator skin pattern. The exterior of his gauntlets are also silver, while the interior as well as the bone spikes at his elbows are now an orange-gold color with the same alligator skin pattern. The chain hanging from the collar around his neck is now gold, and his boots are both brown.

Preset 6: Devil Jin's Preset 6 is a re-texture of his Preset 2, replacing the color of his boots, pants, belt buckle, and the interior of his gauntlets with a pale gold alligator skin texture. The feathers along the flared ends of his pants and around his neck are now a fiery orange with the same alligator skin texture, as well as his claws. The chains wrapped around his hips and shoulders are now gold, and the wing-shaped tails of the shawl are now gray. The pendants on the chains of the shawl as well as the exterior of his gauntlets are now silver.

Preset 7: Devil Jin's Preset 7 is the metallic silver version of his Preset 1 outfit. The silver of his armor is now a brighter platinum color, and the trim and designs along the breastplate and fauld are now gold. The interior of his gauntlets as well as his claws are now dark gray rather than silver.

The lapels of the coat have a raised pattern on them with a darker patterning around the hem. His skin remains pale and he has devil tattoos on his chest, but his hands are not demonic. Later, he wears his main outfit upon meeting with his human side. When Jin is now full control of his devil powers, his eyes became golden yellow and his wings are now half-white and half-black before he was given a new power by the apparition of his mother Jun to transform into Angel Jin.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance

In the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue and the movie Tekken: Blood Vengeance, Devil Jin is shown with a new design. He now has blue skin with darker blue metallic portions outlining the muscles of his torso in place of the black tattoos. Rather than separate clothing, he appears to have armor growing from his body which covers his legs and hips, spiked at the upper thighs, with large, curved talons at the end of each foot. His gauntlets stay red but are larger, protruding further from his arms and wrapping around his shoulders with a sharp blade-like protrusion from each elbow. He retains his claws and the metal studs at the backs of the gauntlets. In this design, Devil Jin's wings appear metallic, with an ornate silver wing covering and pointed gray and pale blue wings. Rather than horns, the sides of Devil Jin's face, his chin, and the top of his head are covered by purple and blue crystal, with his third eye appearing as a large red gem at the center of his forehead.

Tekken: Bloodline

At the end of Tekken: Bloodline, Devil Jin appears similar to his playable appearance in Tekken 5 with some changes in both his clothing and overall character design. He maintains his spiked, red gauntlets, and wears the karate gi bottoms Jin wears in the series with the hems torn around the ankle. As he does in Tekken 5, he has a chain wrapped around his right arm, and has an additional chain added around his left leg. In this iteration, Devil Jin has demonic feet similar to his clawed hands with red footpads. His horns are also noticeably larger, and his wings have gray primary and secondary feathers with black feathers at the wing lining.

STORY

Devil Jin was born from the lost power half of Devil Kazuya, originating from relationship between Kazuya Mishima and Jun Kazama, resulting in the former unknowingly impregnating the latter and imprinted half of his power into their unborn son, Jin. Shortly before his battle against Heihachi Mishima where Kazuya was too late to realize his sudden loss of power against Heihachi, as well as Kazuya being confused and conflicted by Jun's presence and influence led to him being thrown into the lava-less volcano in Tekken 2, and his resulting death. The origin of how the half of Devil's power inhabited the body of Jin was eventually explained by how Kazuya was born through the actual origin of Kazumi Mishima. Her home clan the Hachijo, and the Devil Gene was explained by Heihachi to the journalist who works for Lars and Lee.

Biography

Devil Jin was an entity that inhabited Jin Kazama; it was able to use Jin as a vessel because Jin inherited the Devil Gene from his father, Kazuya Mishima. Devil Jin appeared to lay dormant in Jin until the end of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, when Jin’s grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, and a squad of Tekken Force soldiers gunned Jin down. Rather than kill Jin, this event caused his first transformation into Devil Jin. Devil Jin took control of Jin's body, attacked the Tekken Force squad and his grandfather, and then flew away.[7]

Devil Jin was once again dormant until the end of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, when Jin was captured by Heihachi and confronted by both Heihachi and Kazuya in Hon-Maru. Kazuya, possessed by his own devil entity intended to compound its power by extracting Devil Jin from Jin; however, he was unable to do so due to a property of Jin’s Kazama blood.[8] Jin and Kazuya fought in their human forms. Jin defeated Kazuya, and then Heihachi as well. Overcome with hatred for the Mishima bloodline, Jin began to succumb to Devil Jin, sprouting wings as he prepared to deal a fatal blow to Heihachi. A vision of his mother, Jun Kazama, stayed his hand, however. He dropped Heihachi instead, taking flight out of Hon-Maru.[9]

Shortly after Jin left Hon-Maru, the temple was destroyed in an explosion.[10] Jin’s great-grandfather, Jinpachi Mishima, had been imprisoned underneath the temple for many years, kept alive only by a malevolent entity which had possessed him. Jinpachi was freed by the explosion, and his emergence had a dramatic effect on Devil Jin.[11] Devil Jin was able to take total control of Jin’s body, and leveled an entire forest. When Jin awoke in the destroyed forest, he had no memory of what had transpired, but knew it must have been the work of his devil form.

Jin retreated to his home, Yakushima, in search of peace, but was tormented by nightmares. He began to doubt his ability to keep a hold on Devil Jin.[12]

He entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. During the tournament, he was matched against his rival, Hwoarang. Hwoarang was able to defeat Jin, but Devil Jin emerged in the wake of Jin’s loss and savagely attacked Hwoarang, almost killing him.[13] Jin went on to defeat Jinpachi in the tournament’s final round and took control of the Mishima Zaibatsu.[14]

Jin began communicating telepathically with the Devil Gene’s progenitor, Azazel, while he was leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu. He eventually confronted Azazel, and harnessed Devil Jin’s power in an attempt to kill the demon, aiming to put an end to the Devil Gene once and for all.[15] This attempt was unsuccessful, however, as part of Azazel’s spirit survived. Jin remained afflicted with the Devil Gene.[16]

Jin was taken captive by the United Nations after his confrontation with Azazel. Devil Jin emerged during transport and destroyed the helicopter he was on. Disoriented, Jin began traversing the desert, alternating between his human self and Devil Jin’s form. Eventually, Devil Jin was confronted by Hwoarang in a souq. This time, Hwoarang was able to defeat Devil Jin. Jin fled when the United Nations arrived on the scene,[17] and was subsequently taken in by Lars Alexandersson.[18]

Jin fell into a comatose state for several months. Upon awakening, he appeared to have some ability to control his use of Devil Jin’s powers and physical attributes,[19] but continued to struggle not to be taken over by Devil Jin entirely. Jin confronted Kazuya in New York City and fought him using Devil Jin’s power; however, Jin lost control during the fight and Devil Jin took over. Kazuya was able to defeat Devil Jin. Following his defeat, Jin had a vision of Devil Jin extending a hand to him, but he rejected its apparent offer of help.[20]

Following the fight with Kazuya, Jin’s capabilities diminished and he lost his ability to use Devil Jin’s powers at all.[21] Jin entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament 8 Asia Preliminaries regardless. Here, his powers briefly reactivated during a fight against a fighter called Reina, who was using Mishima Style Fighting Karate. This reactivation seemed to be motivated by the fear of death that Jin associated with that fighting style. After Reina forfeited the match, Hwoarang challenged Jin. During the fight, Jin experienced exhilaration that caused heat to build within him, and he was able to access some of Devil Jin’s power without losing control, allowing him to win the fight. Following the fight, Hwoarang remarked that Jin’s powers were ‘weird’ but ‘just another part of him’.[22]

Jin later learned from Niklas Kliesen that devils were created by Azazel in ancient times to be its servants, and that people with the Devil Gene could access their powers by drawing upon their desires.[23]

Later, Jin traveled to Yakushima in search of something that would allow him to defeat Kazuya. While there, he fell unconscious in a sanctum.[24] He met Devil Jin on a plane of his subconscious. Devil Jin taunted him, telling him that power derived from anger and hatred was essential, and that Jin could atone for his past actions only through solitude. Jin rejected these ideas, stating that awareness of his past mistakes was what would allow him to move forwards. Jin then encountered Devil Jin as a mirror image of himself. Jin resolved that he was done rejecting Devil Jin as an innate part of himself, acknowledging that he could only move on if he accepted all he was and all he had done. Devil Jin asked him what it was he truly desired, and Jin stated that he was determined to protect those who were precious to him. Devil Jin granted Jin all of its power, and Jin realized that it had made efforts to protect him in the past. He thanked it, and apologized for misunderstanding it previously.[25]

Jin took on a new devil form with one white wing, one black. In this form, he was able to use all of Devil Jin’s power while retaining his own personality. He woke in time to save Lars Alexandersson from the path of one of Kazuya’s lasers. Jin fought Kazuya in this new devil form and was able to hold his own against him. Eventually, however, he found himself struggling to hold back a massive attack that Kazuya intended to destroy Yakushima with. As he tried to hold the attack off, he had a vision of his mother, Jun Kazama. She reminded him that a Kazama’s power was to foster life and cleanse evil, and Jin assumed a new form, Angel Jin.[26] In this new form, he was able to purify both himself and his father of the Devil Gene using his new powers.[27]

Story
Tekken 3

Jin Kazama inherited the traits of the Devil Gene from his father, Kazuya Mishima. Following the second King of Iron Fist Tournament, the half of the Devil that had fled from Kazuya attempted to inhabit the body of his unborn child, Jin, but failed. Jin's mother, Jun Kazama, fought this part of Devil off, but it returned fifteen years later after she was defeated by Ogre in battle. Devil branded the now teenage Jin with a mark on his left arm, possessing him, though remaining dormant. During the climax of the third King Of Iron Fist Tournament, Jin was shot in the head by his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima. Healed by the Devil Gene within him, Jin resurrected as Devil Jin and made quick work of Heihachi and the Tekken Force guards that accompanied him.
Tekken 4

Jin goes through the tournament and is due to meet Kazuya Mishima in combat in the semi-finals. Before he can do so, he is attacked and abducted by Heihachi's Tekken Force. He awakens chained up in the family temple by Heihachi. Kazuya's Devil has completely possessed him and is trying to extract Jin's Devil from his body. Jin's devil tattoos appear in response to this and he breaks free of his bonds. Jin then struggles to keep his devil in check, and, after managing to do so, he defeats Kazuya and then Heihachi shortly after. Fueled by hatred for Heihachi, Jin partially transforms into Devil Jin, and draws back his fist to end Heihachi. He cannot land the finishing blow though, as he sees his mother's spirit, or a vision of her, reminding him of who he is. He drops Heihachi with a statement "Thank my mother, Jun Kazama" and flies away.

Under the control of the devil gene, Jin Kazama's power rivals that of a deity.[31]

Prologue
Jin Kazama is an individual under the control of Devil Gene.

His power has gone beyond that of a regular human being, and rivals that of a demon.[32]

In-Game Summary
Jin utilized his devil's power in order to take down Azazel. He believed that Azazel could only be killed by a Devil Gene wielder, and that killing it would removed the Devil Gene from the World. After Jin defeated Azazel, Raven found Jin's body lying in the desert. He still bore the Devil tattoo on his arm, showing that Azazel's demise did not free him from the Devil Gene.

Tekken 6 - Devil Jin Ending

Ending Description
After defeating Azazel, Devil Jin takes the orb in Azazel's chest, hoping to attain more power from it. This severely backfires as his powers are absorbed by the orb, presumably due to the fact that the Devil Gene is from the powerful Azazel himself, as clued by the tattoo similarity between Devil Jin and Azazel. Jin passes out, shown without the tattoo. This possibly means the removal of his Devil Gene. At this point, the ending crosses over with Zafina's ending. Zafina takes the orb and leaves, the temple is then shown falling to ruin.

TEKKEN 7 - Devil Jin Ending & Intro (TEKKEN 7 Character Endings)

Prologue
After he defeated Azazel, Jin Kazama was apprehended by UN troops. As his unconscious body was being transported by helicopter, he became possessed by his devil form, ripped free from his straitjacket, tore through the helicopter's fuselage with a powerful beam attack, and then escaped.

Intermittently fending off the UN's attempts to recapture him, Devil Jin wandered the desert until he stumbled across a town in the Middle East. His arrival at the town's bazaar sent the civilians fleeing for their lives, turning the once buzzing settlement into an abandoned husk.

That is until a certain someone showed his face...[33]

Story Mode
While Jin is unconscious and weakened from his fight against Azazel, UN peacekeepers strap him into a straightjacket and airlift him via helicopter from the desert. Jin's Devil Gene activates once again while in mid-flight, and Devil Jin obliterates the helicopter he's being carried in and falls into the sand below. Later, Jin walks through desert sandstorms and is cornered by more UN soldiers. He destroys his would-be captors with a laser beam that he unleashes into the sky.

Jin is later rescued by Lars Alexandersson and is brought, while comatose, to Lee Chaolan's Violet Systems. He awakens after Heihachi has been killed by Kazuya. As Lee and Lars remark that G Corporation seem intent on continuing the war, Jin joins them on a rooftop overlooking the conflict. Lars tells Jin that it is up to him to set straight everything that he has done wrong. Jin agrees, and says that, because of his devil blood, it's up to him to kill Kazuya. As he does so, he closes his fist, and his devil markings appear on his face.

In-Game Summary
Prior to Lars's arrival, Devil Jin was confronted by Hwoarang. Hwoarang defeated him, and then saved him from a grenade blast, taking the blast himself.[34]

Ending Description
After defeating Hwoarang, Devil Jin smirks as his opponent gets back up to fight again. Their battle is interrupted by UN soldiers who toss a grenade at them. Hwoarang kicks Devil Jin away and is hit by the explosion in his stead. Afterwards, Devil Jin flies into the air and unleashes a beam attack on the soldiers.

Devil Jin is walking towards the destruction of Manhattan, until he sees satellites firing a laser at him. He flies all the way to space while avoiding the lasers and destroys the satellites. Then, Devil Jin fires a giant laser at the Earth, causing global destruction as he laughs maniacally.

Summary of In-Game Events
During his fight against Kazuya in New York, Jin transforms into his devil form to strike back against him. However, due to its unstable nature, Devil Jin is overwhelmed by Kazuya's own devil form, blasted away by Devil Kazuya's laser and buried under rubble. While Jin is sinking deeper into his subconscious, Devil Jin appears, reaching out to him in order to continue lending Jin his power. Jin rejects Devil Jin's hand, continuing to sink into the darkness.

Devil Jin comes to the surface once again during the King of Iron Fist Tournament preliminaries during Jin's match with Reina. Reina's fighting style with its use of Mishima techniques briefly awakens Jin's Devil abilities once more.

After Jin falls unconscious in front of the shrine at Yakushima, Devil Jin encounters him once again within his subconscious to berate him that he could not protect his mother because he was powerless to do so. Devil Jin then reminds Jin that he needs power and that he must surrender Jin's vessel to him. After Jin initially defeats him, Devil Jin relocates him to an area that looks like the old throne room from the Mishima Zaibatsu. Devil Jin then reminds him about the war he once caused due to anger and hatred and that he is no different that Kazuya, for he must live with his sins and find atonement though solitude. Jin defeats him again and encounters him once more time in a deserted area with chains. Devil Jin then tells him that he faced himself and overcame his past. Now that Jin does not want to reject him or himself any longer, Devil Jin accepts Jin's offer to break the chains that bind him, as they fight each other one last time. After Devil Jin breaks free of the chains, Jin has decided that he wants to protect those important to him, even if it costs him his life. Devil Jin agrees to grant him the power to do so and joins forces with Jin to allow him to transform once again, this time with one black wing and one white wing.

Soon after, Devil Jin awakens to save Lars and Xiaoyu and flies off to fight True Devil Kazuya. This time, Jin has full control of his Devil form, and he has the advantage against True Devil Kazuya, although it does not last long after Kazuya launches a devastating attack to kill him and destroy all of Yakushima. Devil Jin struggles against the attack, but after encouragement from Jun Kazama, Devil Jin transforms into a new, angelic form, and wards off Kazuya's attack. The fight continues, and both Jin and Kazuya are evenly matched. Upon striking one another, the Devil Gene is removed from the both of them, neutralizing it for good as they both become human once more.

Biography

Devil Jin made his first early appearances in Jin's Tekken 3 and Tekken 4 endings, as well as in the non-canonical Tekken Tag Tournament.

In the story mode for Tekken 5/Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Story Mode, Devil Jin is the secondary antagonist, after Jinpachi Mishima and his demonic spirit. In his non-canonical ending in Tekken 5, he absorbs Jinpachi's power. Also in Devil Jin's non-canonical Story Mode, Jin's identity is already lost forever.

Tekken 5

Shortly after Jin left Hon-Maru, the temple was destroyed in an explosion. Jin's great-grandfather, Jinpachi Mishima, had been imprisoned underneath the temple for many years, kept alive only by a malevolent entity which had possessed him. Jinpachi was freed by the explosion, and his emergence had a dramatic effect on Devil Jin. Devil Jin was able to take total control of Jin's body, and leveled an entire forest. When Jin awoke in the destroyed forest, he had no memory of what had transpired, but knew it must have been the work of his devil form.

Jin retreated to his home, Yakushima, in search of peace, but was tormented by nightmares. He began to doubt his ability to keep a hold on Devil Jin.

He entered the fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament. During the tournament, he was matched against his rival, Hwoarang. Hwoarang was able to defeat Jin, but Devil Jin emerged in the wake of Jin's loss and savagely attacked Hwoarang, almost killing him. Jin went on to defeat Jinpachi in the tournament's final round and took control of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Tekken 6

Jin began communicating telepathically with the Devil Gene's progenitor, Azazel, while he was leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu. He eventually confronted Azazel, and harnessed Devil Jin's power in an attempt to kill the demon, aiming to put an end to the Devil Gene once and for all. This attempt was unsuccessful, however, as part of Azazel's spirit survived. Jin remained afflicted with the Devil Gene.
Tekken 7

While Jin is unconscious and weakened from his fight against Azazel, UN peacekeepers strap him into a straitjacket and airlift him via helicopter from the desert. Eventually, Devil Jin was confronted by Hwoarang in a souq. This time, Hwoarang was able to defeat Devil Jin. Jin fled when the United Nations arrived on the scene.

Jin agrees, and says that, because of his devil blood, it is up to him to kill Kazuya. As he does so, he closes his fist, and his devil markings appear on his face.
Tekken 8

Jin fell into a comatose state for several months. Upon awakening, he appeared to have some ability to control his use of Devil Jin's powers and physical attributes, but continued to struggle not to be taken over by Devil Jin entirely. Jin confronted Kazuya in New York City and fought him using Devil Jin's power; however, Jin lost control during the fight and Devil Jin took over. Kazuya was able to defeat Devil Jin. Following his defeat, Jin had a vision of Devil Jin extending a hand to him, but he rejected its apparent offer of help.

Following the fight with Kazuya, Jin's capabilities diminished, and he lost his ability to use Devil Jin's powers at all. Jin entered the eighth King of Iron Fist Tournament Asia Preliminaries regardless. During the fight, Jin experienced exhilaration that caused heat to build within him, and he was able to access some of Devil Jin's power without losing control, allowing him to win the fight. Following the fight, Hwoarang remarked that Jin’s powers were 'weird' but 'just another part of him'.

Jin later learned from Niklas Kliesen that devils were created by Azazel in ancient times to be its servants, and that people with the Devil Gene could access their powers by drawing upon their desires.

Later, Jin traveled to Yakushima in search of something that would allow him to defeat Kazuya. While there, he fell unconscious in a sanctum. He met Devil Jin on a plane of his subconscious. He thanked it, and apologized for misunderstanding it previously.

Jin took on a new devil form with one white wing, one black. In this form, he was able to use all of Devil Jin's power while retaining his own personality. He woke in time to save Lars Alexandersson from the path of one of Kazuya's lasers. She reminded him that a Kazama's power was to foster life and cleanse evil, and Jin assumed a new form, Angel Jin. In this new form, he was able to purify both himself and his father of the Devil Gene using his new powers.
